I Like Turtles....
Baby blandings turtle in Wabasha, Minn.
A female Blanding's Turtle crosses Wabasha County Road 84 in Kellogg on June 7, 2007 after laying her eggs in the Weaver sand dunes. Every spring, usually in the first two weeks of June, nearly 1,000 of these gravid (pregnant) turtles make the mile long journey from their home in the swamps to the dunes crossing the highway that separates them. The area is believed to be home to 15 - 20,000 Blanding's turtles along with seven other species of turtles. (photo by Katie Derus/Winona Daily News)
Midwest Winter... yay?
Pretty standard scene here ... since it blizzards like once a week. Sometimes twice when mother nature feels like making us work. (photo by Katie Derus/Winona Daily News)
